Netball World Cup 2019

15th competition of international netball is about to take place in England this year.

With England looking to scoop the Netball World cup this year, Australia and Jamaica are not coming slow. The dates of the world cup have been decided i.e. 12 July 2019, the stage has been set and every team has their eyes on the prize.

With this over the top excitement, let’s look into the groups and the strongest contenders for the title.

Group A

This group is going to be a treat to watch with teams like Australia, Northern Ireland, Zimbabwe and Sri Lanka.

Australia is the big fish in this group and with Zimbabwe just making its debut in this Netball World Cup, who knows they might end Australia’s dominating streak with a big bang. Australia’s squad is going to be the team with the most inexperienced players as the number of players that are going to debut in this world cup are nine.

Fionnuala Toner’s defending is making headlines regarding the chances of Northern Island making it to the finals. At the end of the day its all about playing with determination.

Group B

Teams that make up this fascinating group are; New Zealand, Malawi, Barbados and Singapore.

With New Zealand taking on the Malawi team as the match opener for this group, it is not hard to say which team has the upper hand. Not to mention, the rock solid keeping of Shonette Azore-Bruce is going to be a pleasure to watch.

But,

this sport is known for its uncertainty, because you never know when the tables turn and the odds stack up in your favor.

Group C

Group C is going to be a very tough pool as it includes teams like; Jamaica, South Africa, Trinidad and Tobago and Fiji.

This Netball World Cup is going to be the perfect opportunity for Jamaica to prove that they are the better side than England, after their fresh defeat against the latter. Let’s see if Shamera Sterling can keep up with the speculations regrading her fitness.

Apart from this rivalry,

South Africa has its own fate to worry about. It has already paved the harder way for South Africa to reach the semi-finals, as it would require them to beat England or Jamaica.

Group D

This group is equally interesting with teams like; England, Uganda, Scotland and Samoa.

England have raised the bars for all the teams in the respective group as they have proved once again that they are one of the toughest contenders. It could be a year for the underdogs but there is no certainty that they will be able to perform under the pressure of such a big tournament.

However,

Uganda is bound to attract a huge number of crowd but it is highly unlikely that they will be able to compete in such a tough competition owing to the squad they are bringing for the world cup. Samoa on the other hand has the potential to take on highly-confident England, especially with Gene Solia-Gibb on their side.

The predictions have been made, the grandest prize of them all is ready for the taking. It is just a few days from now, when the teams are going to compete against each other to make history.
